Doug makes masks too!

In addition to his touring and workshops Doug Berky is a mark artisan of the first rank. He creates original designs and personally makes each mask. His creations have been used by theatres and schools across North America and Europe - including the National Theatre School in Montreal, Williams College (MA), U of TN, U of TX, Fantasy Theatre Factory (FL) and many others.

Doug's masks fall into 3 categories: his Commedia Dell'arte masks are original designs of the traditional stock characters of the Italian Commedia. Characters include Pantalone, Arlecchino, Dottore, Capitano, Brigella, Pulchinella and Tartaglia, as well as other zannis. The masks may be purchased individually or as a set.

His expressive masks are full-face character masks with strong, distinct attitudes. When used as a teaching tool these masks facilitate physicalization in actors. A set includes rage, fear, lust, skepticism and the fool.

Doug can design a custom mask for any purpose: characters or animals in a production, teaching masks, neutral masks, etc.
