Doug
has studied at the State University of New York, Oregon State University and Furman
University. His
theatre training includes intensive work at the Dell'Arte School of Mime and Comedy
in Blue Lake, CA in mime, clowning, mask theatre, improv and circus skills. He
served a 2 year apprenticeship with mime artist Tony Montanaro and worked on theatre
for the deaf at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, NY.
Professional
credits include performing for Two Penny Circus in New England, Montanaro Mime
Theatre (US, Mexico, Sweden), Sunshine Too, and his own solo work from 1983 to
the present. He
was featured in 4 television specials in Sweden; "SeeSaw," an NBC children's series;
a 3-video series for Ecufilm called "Jesus Stories"; and "Light in the Darkness,"
his original mask drama of the Easter story for Ecufilm. His
teaching has included numerous residencies at public schools (secondary and college);
The Commedia School in Copenhagen, Denmark; artist in residence at Furman University
in Greenville,SC.
