Moving People in Schools

mov·ing [moo-ving] - changing the position or posture of; taking or causing to take action; prompting; stirring the emotions

The three sides of the triple threat triangle can be difficult to balance. Directors often find themselves with a crop of talented singers and actors who move well but lack formal dance training and experience. This is especially true in institutions which have not traditionally offered a dance degree. Marlene is sensitive to these dynamics as well as to the historic sensibilities of many of these institutions regarding dance. She is committed to working closely with school arts leaders to meet students where they are with the goal of motivating them to explore a deeper level of expression in a safe and exciting environment.

Dance is a dynamic language. A strong dance element infuses a theater program with breath and energy. Dance appeals to all of our most primitive instincts of rhythm and movement. In a show, a well placed dance number will allow your audience a release of tension and an opportunity to respond on multiple levels. Dance is driving and fun and one of the primary distinctive of live theater which Marlene is committed to nurturing and preserving. Invite her to serve your students in one of the following ways:

Invite Marlene to invest in your people with one of the workshops listed at right.
